Have you seen a herd of sheep? Sheep has a tendency of following its herd. It follows its leader without thinking anything. When someone follows the crowd without thinking about right and wrong and any consequences, it is called ‘herd mentality’.
This world is full of such people who just follow the crowd without applying their brains. Such people have a mentality that if more people are doing something, it is certainly a right thing to do, and they will be safe with the crowd, but it is not always true.
If something is right, there is no problem in following the crowd, but if something is wrong and even then, you are following the crowd without applying your brain, it is certainly a wrong thing to do.
The question arises why do people follow the crowd. Most of the people follow the crowd because they have no brains. They have kept their brains in their refrigerators! They are actually people without brains. They have no ability to think about what is right and what is wrong. They have no sense to judge things. They don’t care about anything, they just want to remain with the majority.
The second type of people follows the crowd because they are actually spineless people. These people have no guts to go or speak against the majority. They remain with the majority to avoid criticism. Such people have no conscience. They are actually cowards who feel safe with the crowd.
It’s better to be a lion, which is alone than a sheep in a herd. Always use your brains to judge what is right and wrong. Always take a stand for the right things, even if no one is with you. Stand for something even if you are alone. Don’t be a sheep.
Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.Saint Augustine
