A niche of a blog means to write about a particular topic only. It can be health and fitness, food, fashion, travel, technology, etc. It means if you are writing about food only, the niche of your blog is food. Many people say that you should have a niche for a blog, but I don’t believe in it. I think a niche restricts your freedom to write. It restricts you. It binds you to a particular topic.
When I have started my blog, I was very clear that I won’t write on a single topic. I didn’t want to restrict myself. I write whatever comes to my mind.
In this post, I will tell you about the advantages of not having a niche blog.
When you write only on a particular topic, it restricts your writing. You feel restricted. You can’t write other than that topic to maintain a niche blog. But, when you write on different topics, you don’t have that restriction. You can write freely on any topic.
Niche makes your blog boring and monotonous. You feel bored because you keep writing on a single topic again and again. Your readers also get bored because they read the same stuff again and again. Writing on different topics keep your blog interesting for you and your readers.
3. Less chance of having writer’s block
In a niche blog, you have less choices. You feel writer’s block often because of a lack of choices. You start repeating the same content. When you have choices, there is less chance of having writer’s block because you can write on whatever comes to your mind.
4. More readers
When you write only on a particular topic, people who are interested in that topic will read your blog. When you write on different topics, everyone feels connected because everyone can find something on your blog which interests them. It results in more readers.
Don’t restrict yourself.
